Circuscake Rug

Playful colors and a joyful design are great elements in a happy child's environment. The coral, mustard yellow, blue and cream yarns are 94% wool, 4% cotton, 2% rayon and less than 1% polyester. I ran out of  one coral yarn and had to substitute with another coral yarn, giving a truly handmade appearance to this particular cake rug. The cut pile is 5/8" and feels luxurious under bare feet! The Circuscake rug has a unique and irregular shape measuring 41" x 32," and it weighs 7.2 pounds. It is backed with a synthetic latex and handsewn soft upholstery fabric. Each rug I make is one-of-a-kind in a wabi sabi way. I try to use natural fibers as much as I can and recycled mill sample fabrics for backs. The rugs are not sheared; I prefer the more natural texture of the cut pile yarns. The designs are original and hand-drawn, hand-tufted and handsewn by me, Liz Folk, in Amherst, MA. I hope each creation finds a loving home and delights many eyes and feet.
